We recently had the pleasure of talking with our January Trike of Month winner, Pam Sewell, after she submitted photos of their trike for TOM consideration on our Facebook page. Pam and her husband, Dave, had their 1999 Harley-Davidson Ultra converted into a trike following a series of “post-football” ankle and back surgeries for Dave which forced them on to a 3-wheeler in 2011.
The couple had been avid riders on their Harley-Davidson 2-wheeler until Dave’s most recent surgery (requiring three titanium screws!) forced them to consider other options. They were fortunate enough to contact Roadsmith Dealer, Tony’s Trikes, not too far from their home in Northport, AL, who happily agreed to come pick the bike up, convert it and deliver it back to them at their home. Tony, and his lovely wife, Joyce, were able to accommodate Dave’s 6’6” frame and size 14 shoe with a myriad of modifications that made the trike a perfect fit!
Pam, a former employee of nearby University of Alabama, says that they named the trike “Trixzee” for two reasons. One, in honor of their granddaughter, Roxzee, (Trike Roxzee = Trixzee) and another, having to do with something we cannot share in mixed company, but very funny nonetheless.
When the couple isn’t riding “Trixzee” to a wide variety of charitable motorcycle events, they spend their free time ballroom dancing and attending performances by the Naked Tater Blues Band, for whom Dave is the lead harmonica player. They are also known for their elaborate Halloween costumes. Believe us when we tell you… this couple knows how to have FUN!
Please join us in congratulating Pam and Dave for their January Trike of the Month. We wish them many safe and happy miles on their Roadsmith trike, Trixzee!!
See you on the Road!
